The Facebook Autism Status Message Viral
Sunday, January 17th, 2010As much as I am glad that the world is now beginning to be aware that the word autism exist and that there are more people affected by it around the world. I would appreciate that instead of updating your Facebook status message with a very cliche status I’d rather you post something you wrote personally and heart felt than copying something you don’t really understand.
I am talking about the Facebook status message that reads: ” My wish for 2010 is that people will understand autism is not a disease; people with autism are not looking for a cure but for acceptance.”
First off, personally, caring for, loving, and living with a child with autism I know deep in their heart they are not really looking for a cure but acceptance from the people around them.
People with autism (PWA) don’t really know they are sick therefore they are not looking for a cure. It is the person caring for, loving and living with them that wishes that there will be a cure for their difference. Because we want them to understand us better than the other way around.
Because we are the average people, we do things like what other people does. We appreciate and interpret things same way other people do. We are so average so we can’t reach the level of the PWA’s or what we call “special children” “special people” because they really are special.
My wish for 2010 is that people will understand autism period. Because with understanding comes acceptance.
